Stradbroke Island with the Sweet family

My previous entry included photos of Siobhan, my visitor from Wollongong. Her family (Father, brother and Siobhan) were visiting us for five days and we decided that a trip to Stradbroke Island was a great way to spend one of those days.

One of the ways to get to the Island from Cleveland, QLD is to book passage on the Stradbroke flyer which includes a free bus trip from Middle Street, Cleveland.

It was a sunny day and there was a little wind. Siobhan enjoyed watching the foam and sea whilst Adrian tucked into his book.

It was around a half an hour and we were on Stradbroke Island.

We walked around a kilometre to Cylinder Beach, one of the most popular beaches on Stradbroke Island

We started making a sandcastle

With a moat.

Michael with the sandcastle.

The sun started to set so we headed home, via a short stay at the Stradbroke Hotel for a drink.

A lovely day spent swimming in the sea, building a sandcastle and then having a drink as the sun goes down. The return trip was in the dark and was quite nice. Siobhan and I sat up the front in the open air for most of the trip. Very refreshing.

We bought the family day pass of 2 adults and 2 children for $50
