Thai Siam - Deep Fried Oysters, Moreton Bay Bugs, Espresso Martini - Cleveland, Brisbane Australia

It's date night and since it is a nice Autumn night we decide to walk to our favourite restaurant, Thai Siam which is just around the corner. It is a busy Saturday night and we are just in luck - they have one table left and it is outside. Apologies in advance for the poor quality of photos due to low lighting.

We are presented with the drinks menu and I decide to try an Espresso Martini cocktail. I've always wanted to try and it decide that tonight is the night! I don't usually drink coffee after 3pm but I decide the caffeine buzz will be worth it.

The espresso martini is AMAZING. It is a mixture of Vodka, Kahlua, Baileys and Espresso Coffee and tastes like a chocolate covered coffee bean. Delicious! A great start to the evening.

Hubby chooses the entree of Deep Fried Oysters. Always a hit! Five oysters to share with a sweet chilli dipping sauce. Lovely!

Perusing the menu I decide to go for one of my favourites - Moreton Bay bugs with salt and pepper ($28) which includes a salad underneath the bugs. I could eat this every day!

The Moreton Bay Bugs arrive and I take a photo before hubby and I tear into the four halves. The flesh is so sweet and flavoursome, the salt and pepper seasoning so moreish. This is the type of meal that you can only really eat properly with your fingers. You will definitely need the wet napkins provided to clean up the mess on completion.

We decide that an entree and main was more than enough to sate us after the Twelve Boar Buffalo Wings with Sweet Potato Fries and Coleslaw for lunch. The bill arrives and we leave happily, another great date night at Thai Siam Cleveland.

Thai Siam, Cleveland, Brisbane: Moreton Bay Bugs; BBQ Pork with Plum Sauce

It's date night and we had booked a table at Thai Siam in Queen Street, Cleveland for Easter Saturday. We arrive at 6pm and there are already most of the tables filled. It's a nice Autumn night and the aroma of food in the air is intoxicating.

We settle down with the drinks menu first. Hubby chooses a Crown Lager and I opt for a Cosmopolitan cocktail. It's delicious!

Next we peruse the menu for what seems like the twentieth time. I go for a favourite meal of Moreton Bay Bugs with Salt & Pepper seasoning. Hubby chooses BBQ Pork with Plum sauce.

[ BBQ Pork with Plum Sauce ($19) ]

There were five halves of  Moreton Bay bugs and they were delicious. I could only eat three because I had eaten a large lunch but what I did have I loved. Hubby was the same, he loved what he could eat but he didn't eat much. That just means dinner is sorted tonight!

I ordered some Dragon Pearl Thai green tea from the drinks menu. I was curious as I hadn't heard of it before. Anna informed me that the tea leaves were in tiny balls and that the tea was very nice. She was right - I loved the flavour, as did hubby, It was very nice to cleanse the palate after the Moreton Bay bugs.

Another amazing night at the Thai Siam restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Thai Siam: Roast Duck Salad, Soft Shell Crab

I was craving Roast Duck Salad so we headed to Thai Siam in Queen Street, Cleveland. I just love this salad. The succulent roast duck and the zingy salad dressing, It's delicious.

Hubby chose some fried soft shell crab but felt it was a little cold when it arrived so they heated it up for him. He said it was a little oily but he ate most of it. He's a very picky eater, not like me.

Thai Emerald - Goong Yang (BBQ king prawn) and Tom Kha (Yellow Curry) Seafood

Last night I ordered a meal at  Thai Emerald  from Alexandria Hills using their Menulog page and blogged about it here. I had been given a free voucher for $30 by Josh from Menulog. I had so much fun choosing my meals and booked in for home delivery at 5.30pm tonight.

Meals selected included Goong Yang  (marinated king prawn) and Tom Kha  (yellow curry) seafood from their menu, which cost $30.10 including a delivery fee of $5.  I used the voucher and paid $0.10 via credit card!

The friendly driver handed me my package and I quickly plated the meals up and took some photos.

[ Goong Yang (marinated BBQ king prawn) - four pieces for $8.50 ]

Goong Yang  BBQ king prawns were delicious, marinated and cooked to perfection with a Thai BBQ flavour. I loved the spicy chilli dipping sauce and ended up dipping all the pieces of lettuce in it. Yumm!

[ Tom Kha (Yellow Curry) seafood  - $16.60 ]

Tom Kha  (Yellow Curry)  is one of my favourite curries. It is mild and creamy and full of flavour. There was four prawns, potato, scallops, squid and other seafood items in the sauce, all cooked to perfection. My only complaint is that I reached the bottom of the bowl so quickly. It was that good.

My first experience using Menulog to order my home delivered meal was an easy and successful one. I would definitely use the service again. The good thing about having the menu in front of you is that you can take your time selecting your meals and there isn't someone on the other end of the phone line whilst you make up your mind like when you phone in a home delivery order.

I received a 10% off voucher from Menylog on my next order. Neat!

Would you like to use MenuLog? Check back soon and I will be giving away a voucher courtesy of Josh from MenuLog. Then you can enjoy ordering Take-Away and Home Delivery online.

Thai Siam , Cleveland - many return visits

I can't count how many times I have visited Thai Siam since we moved to Cleveland three (3) years  ago. It's just THAT good. We love our duck and seafood which is why the following menu items feature them.
[ Duck Salad ]
Stir fry pork with oyster sauce ]
[ Singapore noodles $12 ]
[ Baby Snapper with salt and pepper seasoning (served whole) ]
Apart from their amazing menu, Thai Siam also has a great wine and beer list and some amazing cocktails. I have loved everything I have tried, especially the French Martini.

They have a lunch menu (priced $9-15) which features many of their house specialties in a lunch meal portion. Meals include:  Laksa Seafood rice noodle soup ($15); Pad Thai noodles with chicken ($12) , Stir fried beef with chilli, garlic and basil ($12);  Beef with Thai massaman curry ($12) ; Pork with red Thai curry; Chicken with green Thai curry ($12), Fish with yellow Thai curry,  Thai beef salad ($10), Roast duck salad ($16); Vegetarian meals ($10); Fried Rice with pork and prawns ($12);  Thai chicken fried rice $10)

Thai SIam is located in Queen Street, parallel with Middle Street. You can see the Woolworths car park from the front door. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant that caters to Thai and Cambodian cuisine.
