Thai Siam: Roast Duck Salad, Soft Shell Crab

I was craving Roast Duck Salad so we headed to Thai Siam in Queen Street, Cleveland. I just love this salad. The succulent roast duck and the zingy salad dressing, It's delicious.

Hubby chose some fried soft shell crab but felt it was a little cold when it arrived so they heated it up for him. He said it was a little oily but he ate most of it. He's a very picky eater, not like me.

Thai Siam , Cleveland - many return visits

I can't count how many times I have visited Thai Siam since we moved to Cleveland three (3) years  ago. It's just THAT good. We love our duck and seafood which is why the following menu items feature them.
[ Duck Salad ]
Stir fry pork with oyster sauce ]
[ Singapore noodles $12 ]
[ Baby Snapper with salt and pepper seasoning (served whole) ]
Apart from their amazing menu, Thai Siam also has a great wine and beer list and some amazing cocktails. I have loved everything I have tried, especially the French Martini.

They have a lunch menu (priced $9-15) which features many of their house specialties in a lunch meal portion. Meals include:  Laksa Seafood rice noodle soup ($15); Pad Thai noodles with chicken ($12) , Stir fried beef with chilli, garlic and basil ($12);  Beef with Thai massaman curry ($12) ; Pork with red Thai curry; Chicken with green Thai curry ($12), Fish with yellow Thai curry,  Thai beef salad ($10), Roast duck salad ($16); Vegetarian meals ($10); Fried Rice with pork and prawns ($12);  Thai chicken fried rice $10)

Thai SIam is located in Queen Street, parallel with Middle Street. You can see the Woolworths car park from the front door. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant that caters to Thai and Cambodian cuisine.

Thai Siam, Cleveland - Sang choy bow and red curry duck

Another visit to Thai Siam. We decide to go with our favourites - Sang Choy Bow and Thai Red Curry duck. Sometimes you just have to go with something you know will satisfy.

[ Chicken  Sang Choy Bow ]
There is something just so satisfying about eating Sang Choy Bow. I think it is that you eat it with your fingers, holding the lettuce leaf and trying to eat it without spilling the contents. The tasty sauce dripping down your fingers and the crunch of lettuce leaf. Just delicious.

[ Roast Duck Thai red curry ]
Something that I could eat every day of the week. I just love red curry and adore roast duck. The tender and succulent duck meat and the punchy and silken curry sauce. Yumm.

Review: Kam Fay Chinese Restaurant, Cleveland QLD - roast duck and steamed oysters

My husband and I enjoy visiting new restaurants and we had often thought of visiting Kam Fay Chinese in Cleveland but had not visited until one night when we just decided to try something new.
Whilst the restaurant was new to us it had many of our favourite meals on the menu including Roast Duck and Steamed Oysters.

[ Steamed oysters with ginger and chilli ]
The meal was very comforting and we enjoyed some green tea which helped to cut through the oils from the roast duck. Service was prompt and waitresses were friendly and helpful.

The oysters were of large size and overall experience was a positive one. We will definitely return.

Review: Thai Siam, Cleveland has moved!

I love visiting new places to eat and drink but sometimes you just feel like returning to a fond favourite. That's what Thai Siam is for my husband and I. The restaurant was once located in Wynyard Street, Cleveland but has since moved around the corner to Queen St, Cleveland,  a short stroll from Coles and Woolworths in Middle Street, Cleveland.

Tonight we were enjoying a warm night with a chance of rain. We sat outside at a table for two and watched the people walking by. I also appreciated the new decore of the restaurant and snapped away happily

Thankfully all my favourite meals were available on the menu. The decore may be new but the Thai and Cantonese cuisine was just as amazing as ever.

My father started my obsession with oysters, feeding me them to me fresh from an oyster lease up at Tin Can Bay in Queensland, and feasting wherever we found them growing on rocks in water with  high water quality.

The oysters at Thai Siam are 2-3 times the average oyster size so I am quick to order them from the Entree menu.

This time we try them deep-fried. Yummmm!!! I wish I could buy another six but I remind myself to make room for the main and fragrant coconut rice.

Phil loves the oysters. My precious!

I sip on some green tea whilst we wait for main course. Roast duck with red curry sauce.

I love the vibrancy of this teapot, which my old Indian doctor would say is a spiritual colour worn by the holy men. I know it has a calming effect and is similar hue to the sauce that arrives.

Red Curry Duck arrives. My favourite!

The meat is so sweet and juicy and the red curry sauce on coconut rice is divine. I can only have it rarely as there is a lot of fat but oh my goodness the taste is amazing! Plus I am sharing the main with my husband on a pile of coconut rice so I'm only eating half as much as I normally would. Such decadence!

I used the Camera+ App to take photos on my iPhone and then the Instagram App to post them to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram account at the same time. Instagram encourages you to take  photos that are the same width as height. I love the effect it gives but there are sometimes when I love the panorama or portrait dimensions as well.

Sometimes I cheat by adding a border to the top or bottom but for the most part I take photos and then crop in Instagram. It's a fun and easy way to update facebook and the smaller file sizes means faster uploading!
